In July 2020 Bart Kemper was asked by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI) to help review some updates to their joint venture with OCEAN-X.   WHOI and OCEAN-X are two of the premiere research groups increasing our understanding of the oceans and their part in the climate cycle.  KES is recognized leader in engineering innovation and has worked with people from WHOI through volunteering together at the ASME Codes and Standards committees.   Ocean-X’s primary research vessel, the ALUCIA, was docked in Nassau, Bahamas.  Considering some of the other places work and military duty has taken him, he cheerfully agreed to be sent.

Triton Submarines is one of KES’s partners within the Manned Underwater Vehicle (MUV) community within the Marine Technology Society.   Bart has already been to their assembly facility.   The ALUCIA has two Triton submarines which are used for research and documentation.  There were some questions regarding a new use for recently upgraded equipment.  Safety and reliability iare paramount considerations for all of the participants involved.  When the question came up of which company can provide the technical answers quickly and accurately, KES was recommended.

Bart didn’t get a vacation.    He flew in on a Friday, was on the ALUCIA that afternoon, wrote his report that night, and was on a plane home the next day.  KES is ready to assist anywhere, any time.
