Alexis San Miguel came to KES three years ago as a Certified Solidworks Professional.  She quickly learned how to apply those skills as part of the engineering problem-solving method.  Most engineering interns spend a semester learning Solidworks and  the basics of connecting theory to practice. It often ends there, with the student getting a deeper understanding of the profession as they continue their education. Alexis quickly went beyond that benchmark and became a valuable contributor, earning her role on projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.  In 2022 she co-authored a conference paper, “Advancing Towards Design By Analysis for Glassy Polymers,” which was presented at the 19th Submarine Symposium in Dec. 2022 in New Orleans, sponsored by the Marine Technology Society. Her LSU Capstone project was developing a specialized pump for use in specific US Air Force aircraft.

This month Alexis took her oath as part of the Order of the Engineer and graduated from Louisiana State University in Mechanical Engineering. She had a number of job offers but, fortunately for us, she has elected to continue at Kemper Engineering, now as a full-time staff engineer.  We are excited to have her and to be helping her launch her engineering career.

Alexis San Miguel prepares to take her oath as part of the Order of the Engineer. The envelope holds the stainless steel ring she will wear after the oath.

Bart Kemper has word his ring since May, 1998. Alexis San Miguel started as she graduated in May 2024.
