Despite the COVID 19 lock-down, KES continuing to grow. We welcome Veda Thipparthi, a recent LSU graduate with a Masters in Chemical Engineering.
As a research assistant at LSU, she became involved with improving the Gulf of Mexico’s health with her thesis, “Breaking Coastal Hypoxia: Destratification of Gulf of Mexico Dead-Zone by Enhancing Oxygen Transport Using Propeller Aeration to Maintain Marine Fauna”. This modeled vertical oxygen transport restriction as function of depth in Gulf of Mexico based on an algorithm she developed from field data. This was award “Most Impactful Abstract” at Ocean Science Meeting 2020. She also secured a $100,000 NSF grant. Her prior work includes internships at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, where she was involved with pilot plants, process design and optimization, static equipment design, plant maintenance, root cause analysis, and was certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt in Applied Lean. her passion for innovation as well as demonstrated multi-discipline view of engineering makes her an excellent for KES.
Her current work is supporting the development of several papers regarding polymers slated to be presented in the 2021 ASME Pressure Vessel and Piping (PVP) conference this coming July. We look forward to years of innovative contributions from Veda as she helps KES to continue to build regionally, nationally, and internationally.
