M4 Aerospace Engineering of Long Beach, California, has contracted KES to assist their work in supporting Electra Aero in advancing aerospace technology in the field of electric-powered crewed flight. KES’s long-time associate, Yoshio Muki, is an aerospace engineer who was previously on the KES Oceangate and Titan Submersible investigation team. Yoshio and Bart Kemper, P.E. have worked on many projects together in different capacities, including analyzing failures and redesigning the landing gear components for the Lockheed Martin X-35, the precursor to the F35 Joint Strike Fighter. Yoshio’s professional history is rooted in the Los Angeles aerospace industrial center, which is how he became associated with M4 Aerospace Engineering, which has deep experience in commercial and defense aviation as well as other advanced technologies.
KES’s aerospace background includes our associate Mike Gordon, P.E., who had worked for NASA for years and was part of the Space Shuttle COLUMBIA forensic investigation, as well as our company leadership, Krista Wohlfeil and Bart Kemper. Krista and Bart both have operational expertise in fixed wing and rotorwing operations through the US Army, with Bart also having an airfield siting, design, and repair background as well as training aviation battalion and brigade staffs for combat deployments. Bart is also a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and has marine engineering experience to add to the mix. Past projects include assisting US Space Plane in developing supersonic lifting bodies.
Electra Aero is a leader in developing commercial applications of electric-powered fixed-wing aircraft. We are excited to augment M4 Engineering’s support for Electra Aero, to include meeting up in Morgan City, Louisiana, to look at a series of barges that could potentially support ongoing developments. KES has a long history of supporting other engineering firms by providing additional expertise and overflow work capacity.
