Bart Kemper presented a class on Engineering Codes and Standards to engineering seniors at both Southern University (SU) in Baton Rouge and University of Louisiana of Lafayette (ULL). This class is his most requested presentation for students and is part of our outreach program. Bart explains how important codes and standards are to engineering, how they are developed, and how they can be the key to success for young engineers. Dr. William Emblom and Dr. Yona Niguse are his sponsors at ULL, and Dr. Patrick Mensah and Dr. Elhag Shaban are his sponsors at SU, graciously allowing Bart to share his experiences in multiple industries and to answer questions about the profession.
Bart was also formally presented his certificate conferring the honor of Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers by Prof. Emblom. Dr. Emblom, P.E., F.ASME and Dr. Mensah, F.ASME were both recommenders for this honor, with Dr. Emblom taking lead on the process and Dr. Mensah having worked with Bart at LSU’s Engineering Capstone program for many years before taking the leadership position as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs at Southern University.
