Kemper Engineering Services hosted the chairs for the ASME Codes and Standards for Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (PVHO) the week of the 14 March, 2022.  The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has not resumed full in-person meetings for the various codes and standards volunteer groups.  These volunteers are a cross-section of a given industry, both engineers and non-engineers, that take the time to apply their experience and expertise to crafting the safety codes and engineering standards that are critical for consistent, safe engineering practice.   As an interim measure, KES hosted the chairs of the various subcommittees just as SouthWest Research Institute (SWRI) had done in San Antonio back in October of 20221.  While not all chairs were able to attend, it was still helpful to meet in person while the rest of the committee joined by Zoom.  Our principal engineer, Bart Kemper P.E., is also the chair of the Subcommittee on Viewports as well as the Design By Analysis for Glassy Polymers task group.  KES hosted the meetings in our conference room and led them to various sites, including the Three Roll Estate Distillery in downtown Baton Rouge where they had an tour of the distillery’s pressure vessels.

Codes and Standards rely on volunteers such as Brett Faircloth (FMS Engineering), Mike Frey (US Navy), Roy Thomas (American Bureau of Shipping), and Joe Crouch (SWRI) to volunteer time and leadership as chairs to keep codes and standards current.
