Kemper Engineering Services continues to support the LSU Engineering Capstone Program as members of the Industry Review Panel.   As in the past, our company president, Krista Kemper, and our principal engineer, Bart Kemper P.E. volunteered their time to evaluate five days of multi-disciplinary engineering projects as part of a two-semester program.  Our newest engineer, Linda Cross, also attended and provided her expertise in biological engineering. Two of our senior consultants, Prof. A.J. McPhate, P.E. and John Weaver, P.E. have long-standing relationships of their own with the LSU Capstone Program.  This is part of KES’ outreach to give back to the profession.

Engineers are called upon to address matters of life safety and provide assured solutions businesses count on.  While an engineer cannot earn their license to operate independently until they have served their required internship, passed the tests, and met the screening criteria, their responsibility as professionals and the trust of their employers starts the day they are hired.   The LSU Capstone program has been cited by the American Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) as one of the most effective programs of its kind, largely due to the depth and breadth of the expertise of the Industry Review Panel.  First semester is when their present their design with the engineering work and project plan.  Second semester is when they present their final design and demonstrate their prototypes.
