KES is proud to work with A+ Corporation of Gonzales, Louisiana. As local innovators earning a world-wide reputation for excellence, KES provides the extra engineering resources to help A+ Corporation continue to grow.
A+ Corporation is a leader in sampling and conditioning systems — the technology needed to ensure gas transport is safe, reliable, and maintains required quality. Their equipment includes systems that sample high pressure and supercritical natural gas. The very act of breaching the pressure boundary to extract a sample, then sealing the pressure boundary and delivering the sample to the analyzing equipment, has inherent risk. Quality cannot be compromised because safety cannot be compromised. Their flagship equipment, Genie Filters, performs so well they are sold throughout the world. Founded over 30 years ago by Donald Mayeaux, his grandson Justin Harvey is now company president, keeping the same commitment to quality.
As part of our relationship with A+ Corporation, we are working with their lead engineer, Steven Calverley to help him earn his engineering license. The company wants Steven to reach the next level and earn his license as a Professional Engineer. However, one of the requirements for earning a license is working under a licensed Professional Engineer. Many in industry do not have this opportunity.
Kemper Engineering Services is a strong supporter of licensure and the Louisiana Engineering Society. Getting a license does not make you magically a better engineer any more than being given a driver’s license makes you a better driver than you were the week before. The process, however, makes you learn more than just what is needed to go from home to school and back. Just like a driver’s license, it can be taken away for misconduct. Licensure is the engineer’s bond to the public to put their safety ahead of all other concerns, even their own employer. The work you sign and seal follows you for the rest of your life. It speaks volumes that A+ Corporation is not only investing in their engineer’s development, they are also strengthening their bond to every community around the world where their products are being used.
Our Principal Engineer, Bart Kemper, P.E., is a past president of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louisiana Engineer Society. He co-wrote the standards for professional work of mechanical engineers for the Louisiana Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, has lectured in universities and industry on engineering ethics as well as technical matters, is on multiple engineering codes & standards committees, and was recognized in 2007 as one of the Top Ten Federal Engineers. He regularly reviews Steven’s work, teaches advanced techniques, advises him on code and regulation interpretations, and otherwise mentors him in the same way Bart works with KES engineers.
KES supports this by significantly reducing our rates. Just as give back to our profession by spending several weeks away from work each year to support Louisiana engineering schools with lectures and student project evaluations, we also give extra to support licensure and our bond to the public.
